If you are considering switching over to fly fishing from years of experience of being bait fishing, you may, at first, be amazed at how uncomplicated and straightforward a fly fishing reel is. But with this straightforwardness the fishing reels do need certain considerations while you go around to get one. At the same time you may also be perplexed as to what the disparity between different fly fishing reels are and which one you should get. The options are not that simple but if you look closely you will find certain aspects which make a reel better than the rest. One such aspect is the reel weight.
Reel weight plays a crucial role in the overall experience with the reel and hence is an important consideration. Typically, the weight of your line must go with the design of your fly reel. In other words, If you have a fly reel that is designed for a 4-weight line, then be sure to get a 4-weight line and vice versa. Similarly, if you have a 4-weight reel, then you need a 4-weight rod and vice versa. You can have it generally, though; a 3 or 5 weight will work with a 4 weight and so on and so forth.
